Next Time

"In every adversity there lies the seed of an equivalent advantage. In every defeat is a lesson showing you how to win the victory next time". - Robert Collier There's always next time. Next time is a world of opportunity.  It shows you that all is not lost and  hope is right around the corner, despite failure's scent still lingering after the disappointment of not getting what you expected. Despite the late nights, the sleepless nights, working hard and working to the bone, failure still found a way to creep in.  There is always next time. Next time is the link to the hope we need to carry ourselves through. It's just a setback, failure doesn't mean failure. It is not the end of the road because there's always next time🤎 The road never ends because there's always next time.

Don't Be a Giant, Be a David!

"If I have seen further than others, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants" - Isaac Newton Do you know the phrase, "hanging with giants or standing on the shoulders of giants?" I hear this phrase a lot. It basically means hanging around with the big men and women of this world, with people who have made it in life.  People who are a force to be reckoned with and noticed the moment they walk into a room. People other people fear and want to be like. That was the case with Goliath. He was a giant from the philistine, but what people don't know is that he was a descendant of the fallen angels - half-man, half-angel He was mean and scary and could not be defeated, and he was a force to be reckoned with. However, there was also a David.  The opposite of a giant, but yet, he was God's chosen one. He was a boy who was overlooked by his own father.  He was small and no one really thought of him.  Yet, he stood before a giant with God by his side, ready to

Acceptance

Image
The best place you can be in is acceptance.  Acceptance of where your life is heading. Acceptance of your age. Acceptance of what you haven't accomplished and what you have. Acceptance of the fact that time doesn't seem to be on your side and despite time not being on your side, God makes everything beautiful in His. Acceptance of the place you are in now, and not trying to speed things up and enjoying every minute of it. Acceptance of your plans not going the way you hoped. Honestly, if life happened the way we expected it to, we would be bored. A little mystery should be welcomed now and then. How many of us can say we truly enjoy the present? How many of us can say we took time to live in it.  We are always a little too late. Once it passes us by, we begin to miss it and have regrets. That's why it's called the past. We wait for it to pass us before we begin to appreciate it.  Acceptance is the tool we need to fully live our lives and fully engaged with ourselves eve

The steps of the righteous are ordered by the Lord

Image
The steps of a good man/woman are ordered by the Lord Psalm 37:23a. When God calls you, He doesn't just call you, and immediately you begin your calling.  That is not how it works, there is a process... life is a process! First, God will call you, and in calling you, He will reveal your purpose. He will reveal why you were born and why He brought you to this earth. After the calling, He will then prepare you. You need to go through the process of preparation! It is just like taking an examination. You have to study for it first before you can write it. If you don't study for the exam, you are bound to fail. Everything begins with preparation. In the process of your preparation, you learn a few things and pick up a few things. Things that you thought you knew and you thought you had, but along the way, you realized you actually never knew or had. It is a process of growth! You are adding to what you already know, removing what you thought was once true and refining places that n

Your Problem is hiding Your Promise Pt 1

I want to do spoken word!!! The first time I ever attempted such a thing was in grade 12 and people were shocked. They didn't think I hadn't in me, I didn't think I had it in me. Moreover, I was shy and suffered from social anxiety.  Even after that beautiful yet daunting moment, I still didn't think I had it in me. I just assumed I was lucky... Lucky enough to find my voice for just a second. Little did I know that luck had nothing to do with it. It was God introducing me to a side I never knew was in me. The creative side, the writer's side, the confidence side, the motivator, the outspoken side. For the longest time, I was looking for someone who would motivate me.  All along that person that I was looking for, was me. I was getting a glimpse of what I think was my destiny, my purpose.  It will take years before I finally realised what I had in me and what I needed to do with the talent God bestowed upon me. It took years and a friend showing me that I was capabl

I do believe in fairytales

Image
I do believe in fairytales! I am a great believer, but not because of snow-white or Cinderella or Mulan or sleeping beauty. I believe not because of the love stories I have read, heard or seen. I believe not because of the fact that I love the idea of being optimistic. I believe because there's something bigger than me, than every one of us. I believe because all my life I have been carried by grace. I believe because He made the blind to see and the lame to walk. I believe because I have tasted God's goodness. I believe because He can make or bring something out of nothing. I believe because He can take something broken and shattered and hopeless and make it whole again. I believe because I hear His voice. I believe in fairytales because of my testimony. I believe because of the miracles I have seen, heard and experienced... I do believe in fairytales because of the God of possibilities that has chosen to show me that He is real. Fairytales are not just about love stories an

Just go into praise.

God inhabits the praises of His people.  Therefore,  when in doubt, praise Him. When in pain, praise Him. When in fear, praise Him. When in despair, praise Him. And you will see His glory reign in your life and the wonderful things that He would do.

Look at your reflection! What do you see?

Simba: You knew my father?  Rafiki: Correction I know your father.  Simba: I hate to tell you this, but he died a long time ago. Rafiki: Nope, wrong again (laughs).  He's alive and I will show him to you. You follow Rafiki, he knows the way. (Music playing) They run into the forest until they stop in front of a stream. Rafiki: Stop shh look down there.  Simba proceeds to look down the stream.  He looks down and sees a reflection of himself and sighs and says, "that's not my father, it's just my reflection. Rafiki: No, lookout there. Simba proceeds to look at where Rafiki points, the look of the water changes and he sees his father. Rafiki: You see, he lives in you Mufasa appears in the clouds Mufasa: Simba  Simba: father  Mufasa: Simba, you have forgotten me Simba: No, how could I?  Mufasa: You have forgotten who you are and so you have forgotten me.  Look inside yourself Simba, you are more than what you have become. You must take your place in the circle of life. Sim

The Principle of Free Will and The Invincible Forces That Govern This World

Last year on this blog, I wrote about the fault being in us and not in our stars and how our actions are a ripple effect that governs the things that will eventually take place in our lives. I spoke on the principle of sowing and reaping. However, since then, I have come to realize that there is much more to life than us and the decisions we make. Whether we choose to believe it, we do not govern ourselves. There is a reason why the bible states that the whole world lies under the influence of the evil one. Ephesians 2:1-3 states that  God quickened us, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past, we walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. As you can see, free will

You Are The Key To Your Destiny

I thank God for where He has brought me, and where I am as a person, and the job he has given me. However, I remember once when I was crying out to God, asking Him why I was here and why I did not deserve to be here. Before saying what He told me, let me give you a back story... Finally, I got a job after two years of unemployment. I finally got a JOB! It isn't the job of my dreams but it is a job, and I have had to start at the very bottom of the food chain with a salary that is next to nothing. Nevertheless, it is a job and I'm grateful for it. Anyways, I have this job, and I have worked for a while at the company and there have been instances where I hated the job and loved the job, depending on the situations. Thus I went through this hate/love, hate/love tug of war until I fell into a deep sadness and I realized I was not in love with my job and I wanted more. Give me more! Give me more! More pay! A better position! A better everything! You know, they always say you should
